How to download Asian movies w/ English subtitles, A complete guide

So I downloaded Hero the other day off of Kazaa and although it said "subbed", it turned out to be subtitled in Chinese... no help to me. I did a little research and figured out how to get English subtitles. It was kind of a pain in the ass so...

Here's how you do it.

1) Download a movie

The easiest way to do this is through Kazaa, and you will definitely want to use Kazaa Lite, not Kazaa, because there's no spyware IE annoying pop up ads and stuff in the former.

While you're on that site, be sure you download not only the Kazaa Lite program itself but also the K-Lite Codec Pack. You can find it on the same download page as the Kazaa Lite program. If you don't know what codecs are, and you don't want to have to learn the difference between Xvid, WMA, and AC3, then download this and install it, otherwise chances are good you'll download a movie and it won't work or the sound won't be there.

So you got Kazaa Lite to work and you got your movie and you're ready to get the subtitles?

2) Install WinRar

Go here, install it, enough said. .Rar is a way to compress files. .Zip is similar. Subtitle files are distributed in rar format.

3) Install a movie player that can play subtitles too

These are movie players just like Windows Media Player, but they also show the subtitles at the same time. Here's one that works for me... DivX Subtitle Displayer.

4) Download subtitles

Here's a good site for Asian subtitles: English Subtitles for Asian Movies

Find the subtitles for the movie you want (it might be in English such as "Hero" or it might be in the native language such as "Mongjunggi"). When it asks if you want to open it or save it, choose save and remember where you put it... it's probably easiest to just save it to your desktop. Then you can doubleclick it, and it'll open in Winrar. Drag the actual subtitle file out of the window that opens on to your desktop (you'll see what I mean once you get there), and your subtitle file is ready to use.

5) Load the movie and the subtitles file

If you downloaded DivX Subtitle Player, open that up, pull down the Movie menu to Play File and find your movie file wherever it's been downloaded onto your computer. For example, if you just installed Kazaa Lite, it should be in c:\My Shared Folder . (If your movie is in 2 parts, load the second part by pulling the Movie menu down to "Continued Play File"). After that, pull down the Subtitle menu to "Load Subtitle" and find the subtitle file which was sitting on your desktop.

DONE! PRESS PLAY! ENJOY!

If the movie and subtitle file is not completely matching up time-wise, you can mess around and try to get it perfect by pulling down the Subtitle menu to "Synchronize Subtitle".

amed2k has an updated list of eMule/eDonkey links of even the most obscure Asian movies, as well as links to resources like Kloofy's subtitles site. ACF, their forum, also releases movies and takes requests for reshares, so if you're looking for the latest rip then there's a good chance that it's there. The Temple Server is good (yeh'll have to register at their forum to get it) for most asian movies, and the seoul movie server (210.91.73.199:5555) is probably better for downloading korean movies.

That's why you don't have to use kazaa, but Kazaa Lite, It's better and it's free and it gives unlimited searches

Rename so that video and subtitle file have same basename, but different extension and BSPlayer should automatically load the subtitles. Both files should be in same folder of course.

For example:

My Movie.avi
My Movie.srt
