No, I have not abandoned ‘I Never Thought...’. Please do bear with me a while longer. I’m in the process of writing the last few chapters (yes I decided to end it a tad earlier than expected). I just needed a little distraction from the other fic since I was having a serious case of writers’ block for that one. Still am actually -___-. So sorry for the extremely long wait. Regret.
Love.
Hurt.
Pain.
Sadness.Have you ever felt any of these? Have you ever been in a situation where you regret letting go of someone that was more important to you than you could have imagined? Have you felt the pain of constantly thinking of that certain someone, hurting at the thought of them in the arms of another? Have you ever thought you would go crazy if you don’t talk to them one last time? Have you ever wanted just to know? To be able to get over the pain and move on? Have you stopped loving them? Or do you still....

The cell phone rang loudly in the small apartment, the wind and rain grazing over the window ever so softly outside. The weather had not improved the slightest bit in the last couple of days. The rain that was falling constantly onto the hard cold road and the wind that blew harshly against one’s skin made the days seem longer and rather depressing.
Teddy paced around the small apartment, gathering items of clothing that was thrown carelessly on the floor and couch. He had someone special coming over and due to work commitments, he wasn’t able to clean the place up or prepare anything special. Today was the day, the very special day. He had been thinking and planning this day for at least a couple of weeks now. It was going to be a start to a new chapter of his life. Something refreshing. Something new and pleasant. Something that would hopefully last. He really wanted this to last. He couldn’t bear the thought of history repeating itself. He just couldn’t.
Two years ago, Teddy was once deeply in love with a young girl. She was his everything, his joy in life, his life to be exact. They were in love, or so he thought. But things changed and it all ended. She didn’t want the same things as he did, she wanted to be free and he could do nothing but set her free. For a year, he mopped around feeling sorry for himself. Feeling the hurt she had caused him, feeling hatred towards the world, towards her. He couldn’t understand, couldn’t understand why she would leave him, why she wanted to be away from him. Why she didn’t love him as he did love her. But that was then, and this is now.
He had found new love; he had found love in a girl that was good to him, that was good for him. He loved her and she loved him. That was all that mattered. But why was he occasionally thinking about the past? About
her. About the girl that threw his heart away like it was trash. It was because he needed closure. Without closure, he would still....still love her. Even if it was for the slightest second.
Teddy raced to pick up his phone, glancing at the screen to see the number before placing it close to his ear, his other hands still occupied with the items of clothing he had managed to pick up on his way to the phone.
‘Hello, Teddy speaking’ he casually said into the cell, greeting the unknown person that called him at this time of night.
‘Hello...’ Teddy froze as he heard the voice. The items in his hands falling ever so carelessly onto the ground, his arm dropping to his side as if he had suddenly ran out of energy. He knew who it was the moment he heard her speak up. It was
her.
‘Yuri...’ he said softly, trying to remain calm and collected. He wouldn’t let her get to him. Not today. Not tonight.
‘Teddy... I’m sorry for calling...but there’s something you should know’ she whispered softly, her voice shaky, her emotions getting the best of her. She felt overwhelmed by his voice.
‘I can’t let you go; I just can’t let you go. I’m having such a hard time’ she was now crying softly into the phone, her tears heard.
‘I didn’t mean to leave you. I’m sorry but I still.... still love you so much’ she cried. Teddy could hear her soft tears through the phone, able to imagine the tears sliding down the soft cheeks he once loved to kiss. His heart was breaking as she cried.
‘Yuri...please don’t cry’ was all he could say. I still did love her, even after all the pain she had caused him. After all the hurt he went through, all the hatred he experienced. He still loved this girl. But how much did he love her? He wasn’t so sure anymore.
‘Teddy, I’m sorry for calling out of the blue. But... I’m going crazy thinking about you. I’m sorry if I interrupted anything... I’m sorry’ she started to cry softly again.
‘Yuri, please don’t cry...please. I can’t stand it when you cry. Please...’ he pleaded to the girl sobbing softly on the other end of the line. He didn’t want to feel like this. Tonight was supposed to be a special night. For him and his new love. He glanced at the small black velvet box lying on the table next to the couch. Inside was the ring he was going to use to propose to the woman he now loved, the girl that was carrying his child. The girl that lifted him up from the ground and cared for him. He couldn’t let her down. He had to love her no matter what.
‘Yuri, please know that I never stopped loving you... I didn’t let you leave...but you have to understand. Things have changed. I...I can’t...can’t give you what you now need. I once gave my all to you but you ... you didn’t accept it. I...I’m with someone now...she’s having my baby...we’re happy’ he said. He could feel the pain he was causing her but he had no other choice. He had to choose, choose between two women he loved.
‘...I’m sorry I bothered you. I just needed to talk to you. To hear your voice again. I didn’t leave you, I just couldn’t ...couldn’t let you love me when I knew I didn’t love you more. I...I just couldn’t ...’ she tried to explain but failed. She didn’t even know why she left him. Why she had not accepted him with open arms when she knew he loved her dearly. She was scared, scared to commit. Scared to be boxed up, to be owned.
‘I’m sorry, for hurting you now. But I can’t continue this conversation with you Yuri. I feel guilty... guilty because I know if I don’t end it here. I know that I might change my mind and hurt someone I care about. I’m sorry. You’ve waited too long... I’m sorry...’ Teddy was determined to end this. He couldn’t talk to her any longer. The more he talked to her, the more he didn’t want to hang up. To finally let her go.
‘Teddy, be happy. I wish you all the best. I hope your future wife makes you happy. And I’m sorry, truly sorry for hurting you so much. I’m thankful that the mother of your child loved you the way I wasn’t able to. I’m sorry for interrupting. Teddy...be happy. I love you’ with that he heard a soft click. She had hung up. She had given him closure. He was finally letting her go. His heart was tucking her away. He was ready to give all his love to the girl that will be his wife.
‘Yuri, be happy... love again... love again like I did. I’ll always cherish you...’ he whispered into the night air. He was finally free.

‘Baby, I have a surprise for you’ he smiled warmly at the girl sitting in front of him. Her stomach slightly showing signs of her pregnancy. Her rosy cheeks glowed the way a woman that was expecting would glow. She was radiant and he felt lucky to have her.
‘Awww....you spoil me too much Teddy’ she smiled, her eyes twinkling as she held onto Teddy’s masculine hands. Gripping it as if he was the only person she knew in this world.
‘Close your eyes...’ he kissed her lips lightly before moving away to retrieve the little box he has been dying to give her for weeks. Rushing over to where she sat, her soft delicate hands covering her pretty eyes, Teddy knelt down in front of her once again. This time on one knee.
‘Now open your pretty eyes baby’ he told her, opening the box as she took her hands away from her face. As her eyes meet the sight of the shiny ring in the velvet box, she looked at Teddy in shock. Tears of joy already forming as she continued to stare at the man she loved so much.
‘Marry me?’ he looked at her adoringly. She was what he needed. She cured his heart. Although at one stage he wasn’t sure he loved her with everything he had, he now knew, he loved her more than anything in this world. She was his soul mate.
‘Of course I will Teddy!’ she swung her arms around his neck, crying happy tears on his strong shoulders. Feeling safe and loved in his embrace. She was the luckiest girl alive.
‘I love you baby, you know that right?’ he softly whispered into her ears, pulling her softly out of his hold to see her tear stained cheeks.
‘I know, and I love you too.
WE love you’ she looked down at her stomach. The life growing inside of her would love the man in front of her just as much as she did. And he’ll love them both as well.
‘Thank you. Thank you for making me happy. Thank you for bearing my child. For loving me and for caring for me. You know I’m not just asking you to marry me because of the baby right? I wanted to ask you to marry me when we started getting serious. But I thought you would be scared by how fast I was moving and run away...’ he looked down, holding her hands tightly in his. ‘But with my little man in your cute little tummy...I’m sure you’ll be mine forever right?’ he sheepishly asked while placing his hands over her growing stomach, rubbing it gently to feel his child.
‘Even without your ‘little man’, which might be my ‘little princess’, I would always be by your side. You’re too sweet for me to stay away. Can’t get enough of my sugar’ she placed her hands on his cheeks and brought him closer to her. Placing her soft lips on his, she kissed him tenderly and lovingly.
‘hehehe...let’s go out and celebrate. I did
TRY to make you dinner, but I thought burnt food might not be a good thing for a pregnant girl like you. I think it’s best if you ate real food’ he chuckled as she laughed along with him. Taking the ring out of the box, he gently took her hand and place the ring on her finger. She is now officially his. And he was hers.
Standing up, he pulled her up for a nice warm hug, taking in the scent of her before parting. Taking her hands into his, he slowly led her to the door. They were to celebrate their new life. Plan their wedding and their future. He would now devote himself to only one girl...the girl wearing his ring.
