Chapter 9: Thoughts and Worries
I walked into a jewelry store and approached one of the ladies behind the glass box of gold and silver accessories.
“How may I help you?” she asked kindly. I sat down on the seat in front of her and took the necklace off my neck.
“I would like to make a copy of this.” I handed her the necklace. She gently took it from my hand and looked at it.
“No problem.” She smiled.
“But can you replace the name ‘Jaejoong’ with ‘Minjung’ please?”
“Of course we can.”
“Thank you, when will it be done by?” I asked. A small question mark expression seem to appear on her face. Then she walked over to another employee and then walks back.
“The latest is a week.” Finally she answers me! A week? I guess I’ll come pick it up before I go to Jaejoong’s party.
“Ok, thank you.” She handed me a piece of paper, something about my ordered necklace and how much it costs. I signed it, handed her the money and left.
I approached the doors, they slid opened automatically and I walked through them. I started to wonder around the street seeing that I had nothing to do anyway.
Honestly, I actually like Jaejoong, since the first time we met; he was so kind and cheerful and then as we grew up together, I guess I started to like him. The memories of that day 10 years ago started flooding my head.

---In Hospital [flashback]---
“Oppa! Don’t go!” The young Minjung held onto the left hand of Sungmin.
“I have cancer Minjung, I will die but I will still be watching over you.” Sungmin said slowly. Tears rolled down the little girl’s cheeks and the other members of her family also cried.
“Remember, I’ll always be watching you Minjung, Goodbye.” Sungmin’s hand slipped away from Minjung’s grip.
---End of Flashbacks---
I shook my head, oppa… I sighed. And turned my head to the right, an arcade? I didn’t there was an arcade here. I walked around inside, gosh it was dark, wait…A DDR machine! I walked up towards it there was a crowd around it. After observing the people going on and off the machine for 10 minutes, I guess the girl on the right was the ‘champion’. Another girl jumped off the DDR machine and walked out the door.
“Anyone else?” asked the girl still standing on the DDR machine.
“I’ll go!” What was I thinking? But too late now, I was already on the machine.
“Good luck” she said, making herself sound like she was going to win. I nodded a little.
‘3! 2! 1! GO!” Left, right, up, down, down, left right…. ‘Game Over!’
“Ha! I bet you!” I said with a smirk, I knew I shouldn’t have said that because at that moment, she pushed me.
“Who do you think you are?” she shouted. The people around us laid their eyes on us.
“Hey, back off!” At first I thought I said that but then I realized the voice belonged to the person in front of me. His back was facing me so I couldn’t really tell who it was. While I stood there in anger and confusion, an argument started between the two and what I’m guessing was the girls’ ‘gang’ started to walk towards us, punching their hand into the other. The guy grabbed my hand and ran out of the arcade. Ouch, the sunlight, my eyes hurt. For the first couple of seconds, I experienced blindness then I turned my head around to find a mob chasing us. I faced forward and looked at the guy.
“Yoochun?! You?! What are you doing here?!” I said. Wow, that was surprising.
“No time to explain, just run!” he said. After like 5 hours of running, ok it was 5 minutes, I was over exaggerating, then we finally we lost the angry mob and stopped running at a park. We were both gasping for breath, inhaling as much air as we can, hand in hand. Once I realized that, I let go.
“Thanks.” I managed to say, still panting.
“You’re welcome.” He too, was panting when he said that. I was wondering to ask him why he was at the arcade, but I decided not to because he might ask me why I was there. There really was no proper answer so I didn’t ask.
After a while we bought two bottles of water and sat down on a bench drinking our water.
“It’s Jaejoong’s party next week, you do know right?” I stopped drinking and removed the top of the bottle from my lips.
“Yea, I know.” I smiled.
We stared off into the distance.
“Do you want to go there?” Yoochun pointed towards what seemed to be a carnival.
“Why not?” he smiled at me and I smiled back.
---End of Day---
I looked at my watch. 6:20pm. I was walking home with Yoochun. There was a silence, but it wasn’t really awkward, it was just a time where we could enjoy the peace.
“I’m home.” I broke the silence.
“Oh, ok, I’ll see you at school.” A smile spread across his face.
“Bye” and I walked towards the front door.
“See ya.” I waved to him while he walked off down the road.
During that moment, I felt very happy and warm inside, I don’t know if it was because had a great day or was it because I started to fall for Yoochun. I shook my head and went inside the house.
---A Week Later (day of Jaejoong’s party) ---
I was late! My headache was killing me, my head felt so heavy. My cell phone ran as I sprinted towards the object making the sound, I flipped it open and saw the caller ID, Jaejoong.
“Hello Jaejoong!” I said while fixing my hair.
“The party’s starting in 10 minutes; I thought you said you would be here earlier.”
“I’m sorry, Jaejoong, I need to go do something, I’ll be there at quarter past 12. Sorry!”
“Ok, but make sure you come and don’t miss out!”
“I won’t. Bye for now!”
“Bye!” and I hung up and ran out the door shouting something to my Aunt in the kitchen.
“Bye Aunt! Love you!” before she could answer me, I closed the door and took a taxi to the mall.
Once I got there I hurried to the jewelry store. The same lady as last week greeted me.
“How may I help you?” she asked politely with a smile across her face.
“I’m Lee Minjung, I ordered a necklace, can I please have it now?” she could tell I was in a hurry and quickly gave it to me. She handed me a small navy box with a light blue ribbon on top, I opened it revealing exactly what I wanted. I thanked her and left. I looked at my watch, 12:00, better late than never, so I decided to walk to Jaejoong’s place, I didn’t want to take a taxi, and my headache got worse when I was going to the mall in a taxi. I was walking along the footpath, I could barely think or walk straight, I shook my head while clutching tight to the small box. A bike zoomed past me I’m not sure what happened but I remember slipping off the curb of the path and seeing a black object heading towards me.
